🏆All American Runway OTA Harvey Milk
The first openly gay politician of the USA, was a bold gay rights activist who spoke out against injustice. He was fataly shot by a political rival in 1978. Bring it in Suit and Tie, convince the judges you are ready to take office. Make sure your Tie has stripes, to remember Harvey with his favorite choice of tie.
🏆European Runway Tag Team OTA Marsha P. Johnson Silvia Riveira
50 years ago, the Stonewall riots, led by various brave young people who had enough of the harrassment and injustice that was forced upon them, changed the conversation of all LGTBQ matters and led to a movement and lifestyle known today as Pride. Bring it as the leaders Marsha and Silvia, who spoke up for the most marginalized, in an already marginalized community and brought attention to the issues Transpeople had to face, especially those of color.
Make sure one Team member wears flowers in their hair, as Marsha did many times, while the other wears a Body Suit, as Silvia notoriously did protesting in this picture. Marsha P. Johnson died 1992. Her deathcase remains unsolved until today.

🏆Old Way OTA Sylvester James / Disco
Thinking Disco, names like Diana Ross and Misty Holloway come to mind, but the names of the queer Icons who gave Disco it's asthetics and the clubs of the time it's magic, often remain forgotten. Bring it as a disco King / Queen that would sure get entrance to the iconic Club Studio 54. Bring a mandatory pearl necklace to honor disco Icon Sylvester James, since pearls were his favorite.
Sylvester died of complications with HIV in 1988-his last years he spend as an HIV/AIDS activist.
🏆New Way OTA Alvin Ailey
Founder of Alvin Ailey dance company, gave room and space for african american and latino dancers and stories. His pieces told stories of trauma, like the white supremacy of the south or queerness in a hetero world.
Bring it as a contemporary ballet dancer, and incooperate some gold shine / glitter on your skin in honor of Dominique Rosales aka Golden Child Melody, (picture far right ), who has passed in 2018 and used to dance for Alvin Ailey company. Ailey died of complications with AIDS in 1989.

🏆Face MF/FF Tag Team - Gia Carangi and Sterling St. Jacques
Tag Team of the "Infants terribles" of NYC nightlife. Both frequents at iconic studio 54, Gia and Sterling became Icons themselves. Gia as the first "supermodel" of all time, and Sterling as the first "black male supermodel", who was seen on the Runways of the times and also had a few music hits and acting roles. Gia, who was also the first openly lesbian model in the industry, was often stigmatized for her mental health issues that led to drug abuse. Sterling choose to stay closeted to not endanger his career.Both fell victim to the AIDS epidemic in the 80's and died of complications with the disease.

The New York socialite, high fashion model and a designer herself, was known for her royal elegance and often androgynous looks, that she made iconic and got recognized for in various Best Dressed Lists of the 80's. She became an AIDS activist even before she herself got diagnozed with HIV. In 1992, Chow died of complications with HIV. Bring it as Tina, androgynous and elegant in an all black look, that she was seen in often. Sleek back your hair, and serve face as she did.

In 2017 and 2018 and 2019, queer culture demanded more visibility in media and popculture and had loud major breakthroughs.
the show Pose shook the industry, as it told stories of an ICONIC community, that has shaped mainstream fashion, music, make Up, dance and language and never got recognized for it. Portraying stories about Ballroom culture, portrayed by community members, has been a huge step for the community and how it is viewed by society.

Striking Beauty "Blanca" is a character of "Pose" that bravely fights for equal rights as a Trans Woman of color in white-male-gay bar, that doesn't want to serve her. Portrayed by actress MJ rodriguez, who speaks up for Trans Rights in real life, "Blanca" also suffers from a secret HIV infection, and starts to form a legacy for herself. Bring it as daily life Blanca, who with her style and beauty knows how to pass in the streets of NYC of the 1980's and tell the judges why you will be the Mother of the year.

🏆Realness MF - John Amaechi
The first ex NBA player who outed himself boldly and has spoken up against bias in the sports industry. Bring it as a Baller, make sure to show us some dribbles and tricks.

The first NFL player who got drafted being openly gay and still had to take in bias and discrimination by fans and industry until he had to quit due to mental health reasons. His iconic sacrifice shouldn't be forgotten. Bring it as a NFL player.

This 1986 campaign by the Health Education Research Organization (Hero) notoriously turned heads. Nobody wanted to be associated with HIV or AIDS, so HERO struggled to find models. They didn't tell the two models what the campaign was for until they arrived at the SET. As they couldn't reach their agents, they agreed and the important campaign was brought to live.Get inspired by this 1986 billboard with and make it sexy for the cause. Be creative.

As the Aids Crisis grew throughout the 80's, Vogue Magazine founded a new Campaign to raise money for the needed research. "Shop to Stop aids" groundbreaklingly raised over 11 Million US dollars.
Get inspired by this 1992 billboard with Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer and make it sexy for the cause. Be creative.

🏆Pink Triangle
The "Rosa Winkel" (german), known as the Pink Triangle, was a sign that homosexuals were forced to wear in concentration camps under the nazi regime, as a sign of shame.
The sign was reclaimed by the community, and also became a sign of the SILENCE = DEATH movement, that stood tall agains the political decisions and attitude, that caused thousands of deaths during the HIV crisis in the 1980's.
THE BEST PRODUCTION WINS - show us a production with a minimum of 4 members of one house and a maximum of 6, symbolizing the pink triangle in all pink. Production has to be a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3 minutes.

In german especially in Berlin culture, a very unique Lifestyle and Artform empowered the LGTBQI* community, especially in the 1970's-1990's.
Berlins "Tunten", were known for flamboyant feminine clothing, without the aim of blending completly into the binary idea of a female apperance. Many of Berlins Tunten were known for activist performance art, were chansons about gayness and queer life's aswell as stand up comedy were showcased by and for the community and it's allies, to make a stand on gay / queer matters.
It was the so called "Tunten" who founded the important "SchwuZ" in 1977, and with this from there on offered space for AIDS and Gay Rights activism until today, were Balls like Icons Galore Ball have a location thanks to the space provided by SchwuZ.
Bring it as your version of Melitta Sundström, a stage persona created by Thomas Gerards, a gay rights and AIDS activist.
Melitta Sundström passed due to AIDS in 1993.
